How does one survive and even thrive in a culture that is obsessed with thinness, beauty and youth? Shame messages are everywhere and have become poison. Shame is a soul eating emotion that strikes at the very root of who we are and its messages can come from many sources including friends and family, media, culture, work, etc.   High levels of shame are correlated with addictions, depression, anxiety, and eating disorders and, as such, the recovery process that addresses shame and how to deal with shame will reinforce long term recovery.
