More Information
I am pursuing the CEDS designation so that I can officially specialize my practice in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment delivery with the Eating Disorder population. My interests in field include internalized stigma, barriers to accessing care, body acceptance, and the medical complications associated with the eating disorders. I am passionate about clinical training and the enhancement of clinical quality within treatment delivery. I also like participating in media forums to promote eating disorder awareness and general public education. I intend to continue this work. I will contribute to the field by building on previous research done on Internalized Stigma in the Eating Disorder population with follow up studies, with an intention to eventually publish my findings to contribute to the literature on treatment barriers for those who have Eating Disorders. I commit to seeking out further training and education opportunities to build on my own expertise and provide regular and updated training to my clinical and dietary staff. I eventually plan to begin private practice to further- promote care access to those in need. Further, I plan to partner with local universities to train counselors and therapists on screening for disordered eating, and when/ how to determine if higher level of care is needed. Lastly, I take interest in how athletes are affected by eating disorders; I plan to seek out training and learning opportunities specific to this niche in the field to customize treatment approaches for this population at the outpatient level of care. I will use this designation to further-contribute to the field by promoting the CEDS designation within the organization in which I work and encourage others to also seek out this certification.
